Two Saskatoon men are facing multiple charges following a pair of armed robberies that occurred Monday morning, prompting a swift and coordinated police response.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on August 4, Saskatoon Police were called to a liquor store at the intersection of Warman Road and Assiniboine Drive after staff reported that two men had entered the store with what appeared to be a weapon, stole items, and fled in a green Ford Bronco.
While officers were investigating the first scene, a second robbery was reported at a gas station in the 800 block of 22nd Street West. In this case, staff told police that two males entered the store, threatened employees with a firearm, and again fled in a green Ford Bronco matching the earlier description.
A short time later, a patrol officer located a vehicle matching that description outside an apartment building in the 200 block of Avenue V South. With support from the Tactical Support Unit and Canine Unit, police negotiated with the suspects, who eventually exited the residence and were taken into custody without further incident.
No injuries were reported during either robbery.
The green Ford Bronco used in both incidents was confirmed to be stolen, and additional charges may be laid as the investigation continues.
Both suspects, ages 21 and 32, are facing charges of Armed Robbery. The 32-year-old is also charged with wearing a disguise, possession of a firearm, and was found to have outstanding warrants.
