A 50-year-old man is facing multiple weapons charges following a tense incident in a Saskatoon parking lot over the weekend.
At around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, Saskatoon Police were called to the 1700 block of Preston Avenue North after reports of a man openly waving a firearm. When officers arrived on the scene, they located the suspect, who refused to comply with police commands.
Officers deployed a conducted energy weapon to safely take the man into custody without further incident.
Upon arrest, the man was found carrying a replica handgun—loaded with CO2 and pellets—as well as a can of bear spray and a knife. Police confirmed that all three items were concealed at the time of his arrest.
The suspect now faces several charges, including three counts each of Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. He is also charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
No injuries were reported during the arrest, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
The Saskatoon Police Services is reminding the public that even replica firearms can create dangerous situations and are treated seriously when used to intimidate or cause fear.
Further details, including the suspect’s court date, have not been released.
